I'm joining Misi at 1890 Gable House Musings in her Tuesday Display Chain(take a look to see the other blogs' displays). This is my first time participating, so I hope I'm doing it right.
The theme for this Tuesday is "A New Appreciation". Here is my display interpretation.(the lighting is just so bad in this foyer that I tried day and night shots, still not quite like it is in person)
I have a new appreciation for all the military moms out there, past, present, and future. You let your babies go to help protect our country and all who live in it. Thank You.It's a hard thing to do, whether we had control over it or not.
I feel like I am barely holding onto my heart right now and this is much tougher than I thought it was going to be. My emotions are not hard to miss.
I did have a happy moment in the midst of all the tears. When I was digging in my fall decor in the basement for the pumpkins for this display, I realized how much I can't wait to get it all out and get the house decorated. That needs to be on my list this week.
So military mom or not, letting our babies go is not easy and I now look at women who have done this ahead of me in a new light. Please pass on some of that strength to me.
Blessings,
Tiff

Lovely display and post. I'm always in awe of the strength of the families (wives and parents) that have to deal with letting go!
ReplyDeleteI love how you combined the patriotic with the pumpkins. It looks really neat. Your heart will get stronger and burst with pride as your oldest becomes a man. Life is so hard sometimes. When I look at my kids, I just see them as babies still. No matter how old they are getting. Good luck. -Steph-
ReplyDeleteLove your display! I have a favorite scarecrow that is holding an American Flag. I had designed him right after Sept 11 of that year. Not sure if you know our family story, but our 2 son-in-laws were Navy guys and stationed on the opposite side of the country from where they lived. We shared many holidays and such when they were away from family and know what it all entails.(One of the reasons we have moved across country.) I think of you often, and have been praying. Hugs~Sara
ReplyDeleteLove you display and post. As I deal with the changes of this year and then Kayleigh leaving for college in the fall of '13 I've found myself thinking the same thing. Realizing that my mom probably went through the same thing. (((Hugs)))

ReplyDeleteHi Tiff, I am here from Misi's display chain. I love your display. I think the thing that hit me the most is the patriotic doll holding the heart. I see it as the mothers, wives, sisters, etc holding the hearts of their men. I am praying for you and your son and I thank you and him for the service!
