Not Sure about the Blizzard Quilt...

A few days ago I finished my "blizzard quilt", but I'm not sure if it is what I want for this space. First, I think it is too narrow(and too long, it's tucked behind the couch), and second, I don't know if I picked the right colors. I did want something more Springy, but I'm not sure this is it.

Give your honest opinions please :)  And if you have any suggestions, I will gladly take them... any links to patterns and colors...comment away!!

Thanks,

Tiff

  1. Honestly I think its the width you don't like. The colors work fine, it just isn't filling that space well. (But also, while I LOVE the colors, I do think you cannot force yourself into a color palette that isn't you, no matter how much you want to. If black and burgundy is your thing - yellow and green are never going to work for you.)

  2. I like it. Move it more to the right....maybe relocate your family photo.....and hang the quilt just to the left of the lamp....it isn't wide enough to hang centered...but you need to display it! Just my opinion (since you asked) 😊

  3. I think it looks wonderful, I agree with Sheila move it over don't center it add something else next to it a basket hanging off of pegs, grapevine above the top, a heart grapevine wreath off of pegs, great job, too much work to just ditch it...😃. Didn't get to congratulate you and family on the upcoming addition!
Excited to see what you decide with the quilt.....

  4. It is a beautiful quilt. It is a tad narrow for that area. I think if it was tea dyed it would not look as stark but would totally get not wanting to tea dye a handmade quilt.. Great job!

  5. I love the quilt. May be it would fit the space better if you added a colored binding & hung it a bit higher.

  7. After having another look,I see you can't actually put it any higher.so if you really don't like it falling behind the sofa ( I wouldn't) you will have to relocate so you get the full beauty of it.xx

  8. The colors you chose are delightful ~ so perfect for the wall and couch color. Its does seem to be to long for that space. To get an idea of another size try either folding over the top and bottom ends with safety pins or get a piece of craft paper on a roll (you know bulletin board stuff) and cut out a shape that fits maybe just a hair longer then a square. BTW I do school bulletin boards like you. We know how to create ...... right? :~)

  9. I love your quilt and the colors are perfect for the room. I would make a pillow case with the houses on it. Also a ornament of a house would look cute hang off a peg. That would tie it all together.

  10. It is a beautiful quilt. It feels so peaceful and serene. I would love to see some of the colors in the quilt repeated in the other furnishings; a pillow on the couch, knick knacks on your shelf, or perhaps a wreath.

  11. I think it needs to be off center a bit and either make some pillows to match your colors or tea stain..a bit bright, but you did a great job on it! Janice

  12. How about adding a large rusty barn star in the area next to the quilt to help fill it up. And maybe find a long old broom to hang off the peg next to it above where I suggested a large barn star. The colors are very springy and definitely brighten the room. I would also add some pillows with the colors of the quilt to help tie it in. Or you can also find some pip berries in the spring colors to replace the ones in your long berry basket. The quilt is lovely and if you don't decide to keep it hanging up, I think it would look great as a throw blanket on the back of the couch.

  13. I love the colors but do agree with Sheila, I'd try moving it to the right and rearranging the family photo and stuff, maybe add a shelf over the couch? Maybe hang the family photo from the pegs with something study, over the quilt? You'll figure it out!

  14. In my opinion it is a gorgeous quilt! And just needs to be tweaked a little - - everyone seems to think just off center and that would probably do it. Also maybe a few matching pillows with the same color scheme to bring it down into the room a little. Love the quilt - good artist!!
