24 Week baby update....

I had my 24 week check up and ultrasound today.... All was good :)   My BP was characteristically low, 102/58, uterus measured large(again, not unusual for me), and Asher's HB was perfect at 144. I refused to step on the scale, haha, seriously, I didn't! I told them next time I will, but we were on vacation all last week and I didn't want to see the number. My Dr, is pretty easy going, and I'm healthy, so he let's me get away with things :)

We finally were able to see Asher's face, but he just loves putting his arm and hand by his face, as you can see in this profile pic... his arm is stretched over the top of his face(hand to the left and elbow to the right) and he is trying to kiss his elbow!  He kept doing that during the U/S, sticking his tongue out and moving his lips towards his arm.

And if you remember the great leg shot we got last time?, he decided to give us a good arm one this time... he approves of my continuing to lift weights this pregnancy by flexing his little arm muscles to the screen!

He is measuring perfectly at 1lb 8oz and everything is looking great. And he is breech at the moment, which I knew because he kicks the heck out of bladder on an hourly basis! He is by far my most active baby.  I head back next month for another U/S and the dreaded glucose test.

Back tomorrow with some pictures of our trip to Ohio.

Baby Sewing Day 6...

I finally finished the baby boy quilt, with very little time to spare!!   I didn't use a pattern for one, just squares cut on the diagonal, and the placement of them formed a chevron pattern.  I'm pleased with how it turned out, but next time I will make sure I'm happy with the quality of the fabrics before I start working with them(the blue ones, from Joanns, must not have been 100% cotton, they just didn't feel quite right).

Just like the girl quilt, I used Minky on the back....

I hope my niece likes them!

Have a great day,

Baby Sewing Day 5....

Well, techinically this is "kid" sewing :)  We are going on a quick trip soon and the new family car isn't as big as the van...so this meant I had to say no to everyone bringing their own back pack full of "stuff". There just isn't the space to put it all.  But they still needed some space to store their gadgets, so I made some fabric storage hangers for the back of the seats.   I just "winged" them, no pattern and I didn't even measure things to square them up, but I they were simple and quick(and free!)... and just what we needed.

The top part has a snap on it(love my little snap press) so it comes on and off easily. I also put a snap in the middle of the big pocket on the bottom.  The bottom of the hanger just has a band of elastic that goes around the front of the seat which helps to keep it in place and from hanging to far out.

Have a lovely day!

Baby Update 22.5 Weeks...

I'm now over halfway through this pregnancy... time seems to be going pretty quickly now, especially when I start to think about everything I want to get done before he comes!
I will admit, that I have been struggling with putting on weight with this pregnancy. Ok, actually that came out wrong, my body has no problem with putting on weight, it is mind mind that is struggling with the fact that I am.  After working so hard to lose all that weight, it is really hard to see the scale climb back up. And it hasn't climbed a little, it has climbed A LOT!  But I'm trying to focus on the fact that I am healthy and I'm still exercising and I'm much better offer than I was with my last babies.   But for a fat girl, gaining weight is always a hard thing to deal with :(

Anyway, I thought it may be fun to compare this pregnancy with my last one. I didn't have an exact same week picture, so the one with Mason is a week behind.  The main thing you can see is that my stomach muscles were definitely not as tight...look at how much bigger the belly was.

UGH! I really hate pictures of myself, but oh well, it's fun to have a record of time.

As far as little Asher goes, he is doing well and is perfecting his ninja skills(he is a kicker!). I go back to the Dr. on the 28th and will have another ultrasound. And another ultrasound in May and then they will go biweekly followed by weekly until delivery.... guess it comes with being geriatric ;)

Baby Sewing Day 4....

So I've been slacking in the sewing department, but in my defense, I've been doing a lot of house stuff.  We finished redoing the finished part of the basement(just have a few decorating things left to do). We painted the whole thing and cleaned the carpet, then brought down the big sectional sofa and all the stuff from the game room and turned it into a nice big media/movie room for the kids.  I'll share pics when I'm completely done with it.
Then I decided I couldn't handle the walls in the family room anymore, so I painted the whole family room(it's a large room). I went white with it, still not done, need to add a picture rail around the whole room and then figure out furniture placement.  Plus, we are in the midst of getting ready for a quick trip, so I'm planning and preparing for that.

But here is the finished baby girl quilt for my niece....

I'm happy with the color combo and think it came out pretty nice. But I hated the pattern, at least all the cutting and sewing of it. It wasn't hard, just tedious.  So the boy quilt will not be in this pattern.
The backing is soft Minky fabric...

Too much to do and not enough time to do it!!   Need to get the binding cut and sewn for the next quilt.

Have a great day,

Baby Sewing Day 3...

I hope you all had a nice Easter. Ours was pretty quiet.

For my third day of baby sewing, I have yet another baby shower gift... this time for a friend's daughter who is expecting her first child.  I made soft blanket and matching elephant tag blankie(I have these down pat now!).

Baby Sewing Day 2...

It was a busy day, but I managed to squeeze in some sewing time :)  I made two elephant tag blankies for my great niece and nephew. They coordinate with the quilts I am making for them. I'm slowly building a nice little pile of goodies for the baby shower.

Maybe this coming week I can make an outfit or two for my little guy... thinking of the name Asher for him, it means "happy" or "blessed".  It's not too odd of a name, but it's also a name that I haven't heard around here(so that is good).

Baby Sewing Day 1....

I wasn't able to get any sewing done the first two days of April, but today I made 8 flannel burp cloths :)  These aren't for my little one, but for my niece's boy/girl twins coming in July.

Have a Lovely Easter Weekend everyone,
