Copper Collection and Church Sale Finds...

I thought I would share another one of my collections with you. This is my copper collection, ok, not all of it is real copper, but it all goes together. I really haven't added to this collection in a long time(except for today as you will see below), it doesn't appeal to me as much anymore. But I'm not to the point of letting go of it. It all hangs from the bottom of an old crib in between the pendant lights in my kitchen over the island. Oh, and I totally forgot to include the two egg baskets full of copper cookie cutters in my cookie cutter collection post, but you can see them now. I guess I have to much junk that I actually forget what I have!!

And now for the Church sale finds. I really wasn't planning on going to the sale today but my good friend stopped by around 11 this morning and we got chatting and I mentioned the sale to her. She immediately said "let's go". So I got my youngest munchkin ready and we headed over(it's only a 3 minute drive). I really hate getting to these kinds of these late because I always wonder what fantastic things I missed out on. This sale started at 9am, so I know a lot hadabeen sold already, especially because the prices were so darn cheap. But I need to focus on the things I did get and forget about what I missed as it wasn't meant to be. So here is what I got...
A wood bowl with handle, two wood wall candle holders, a wood hanger, some berry vine, two swinging brass candle holders, a small copper sheep(for my collection), 8 vintage cloth napkins , a bag full of wool skirts(not pictured because it's already up in the laundry room waiting to be washed), and my munchkin got two toys(a baby Kate doll and a musical dog pull toy).
Then I got this desk, which says it is made in Vermont on the bottom. I'll either use it my sewing room or put it in my youngest daughter's room, of course after a makeover.

And last, but not least, this little chest of drawers. I know it looks hideous now, but it is such a nice size, tall and narrow, that I couldn't pass it up and I know it will look fantastic painted and primmed up.

And what did I pay for all these treasures you ask? A grand total of $ 22 !!! Yes, a total steal! Where could I get a dressser alone for that price or even the bag of wool? So thank you dear friend of mine for dragging me out of the house this morning!! And I'll be sure to share the finished makeovers with all of you, I have a lot of painting to do!!
Have a great day!

Tiff

  2. I was at the sale at 9:00. I got a red wing plant pot, vintage salt and pepper shakers, 25 various design plates, a set of 12 olive green glass goblets and what was really exciting, 3 amber glass large bowls, 3 amber glass candlestick holders, and a set of 12 amber glasses all for $8.00. I had just posted that I was doing an "amber" theme for Thanksgiving so I can't wait to add these finds to my tablescape. By the way I didn't see the chest of drawers at the sale. Good for you.

  5. Morning Tiff, I'd say your collection of Copper is complete! And I know what you are saying about 'not ready to part with it yet'...I have lots of those kinds of things around here. Maybe after Christmas I will get in the 'pitching' mood and take it to a thrift shop.

Your bargains were awesome and I get where you are coming from getting there late...did that yesterday at a craft show....couldn't get there fast enough for fear someone else would get something I wanted...lol
