I have to start off by saying(and I'm sure my hubby is tired of hearing this already), but I absolutely LOVE Virginia!! I loved the Shenandoah Valley area that we were in and I love the area that we were in the last two days, it is simple beautiful and feels like home.
We stayed at a KOA on the outskirts of Charlottesville and I can't begin to tell you how gorgeous the area is. These pictures just don't do it justice(and I'm sorry for the poor quality, I forgot the memory card for my camera so I had to use my tablet).
Here we are fueling up the van at Ike Godsey's store...(about 1/2 a mile from the house)
This general merchandise store sits in front of the Hamner's house. It sells trinkets and souveniers now, but it used to be the shed that Earl(John Boy) used to escape to to write in his journal and then later housed his printing press. Wait till you see what hubby bought for me from here.
The Baptist church the Hamners attended... this sits within a few hundred feet of the Hamner home. It was amazing how close they were to everything.
This is the road that runs beside the Hamner home, Rockfish River rd. To the left would be the Hamner house, from the camera angle is the store, to the right is the church, and up the road further to the left is the old school which is now a community center and the Walton Museum.
Here is looking up the Rockfish River Rd...behind those trees on the left is the Hamner house and up the road on the right is the school, the driveway leads to the store(old woodshed).
The Hamner home...
This picture got out of order, but this is part of the Esmont(Baldwin ladies) estate...
Stayed tuned, I have lots more to share from here...
